The Sales Manager is the Executive directly responsible for the retail sales performance of the company and the day-to-day operations associated with that function. He or she is accountable for the staffing, training and performance management of his/her direct reports to result in a superior customer shopping experience and consistent achievement of the company’s financial objectives.
• Actively and effectively participate as a member of the Executive Board and assist in the formulation of the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
• Develop strategies and action plans that support and achieve the company’s Strategic and Operating Business Plans including department revenue, gross profit and expense budgets
• Develop clear objectives and standards of performance for his/her department and direct reports that result in the consistent achievement of department initiatives and expectations
• Regularly and consistently meet with the Owner to review department and individual performance and create plans for improvement
• Develop, manage and execute action plans to maximize company promotions, special events and seasonal selling opportunities
• Develop, oversee and implement effective Loss Prevention measures, including regular merchandise inventories and/or case counts, merchandise handling guidelines, thorough paperwork processing and other necessary activity to protect company assets and minimize loss
• Develop, implement and manage processes to increase customer loyalty and visit frequency
• Maintain a high degree of sales floor awareness and interact with customers as needed, on behalf of his/her direct reports, to finalize sales transactions and achieve department objectives
