The history of Graham
Jewelers began in 1951 when Darrell Miller Sr.
founded Miller’s Jewelry of Wayzata and
became the local jeweler to the Lake Minnetonka
and Wayzata communities. In 1978, the business
was passed on to Darrell Miller Jr. who continued
to run it with the integrity of his father. In
April of 2003, Darrell Miller Jr. was diagnosed
with pancreatic cancer and wanted to find someone
who would continue to serve his clients with the
values and integrity that he and his father had
provided for the past 52 years. The business was
sold to Chris Graham, who had been active in the
jewelry industry for many years. Chris was the
president of the American Gem Society’s
North Central Guild at the time he purchased the
business from the Millers.
In 2003, the name of the business
was changed to Graham Jewelers and the business
has continued to grow each year. Due to Chris’s
background in buying diamonds and his professional
relationship with the finest jewelry manufacturers
in the industry, Graham has been able to attract
the finest jewelry manufacturers in the industry
and to bring their products to the Wayzata community.
Fine jewelry lines carried include Oscar Heyman,
Caroline Ballou, Hearts on Fire, and Pomellato;
watch lines include Ball, Dubey & Schaldenbrand,
Fendi, Longines, & Swiss Army.
Integrity is important to Chris
and it shows – he himself is one of just
400 Certified Gemologist Appraisers in North America
and Graham Jewelers has an in-store Gemological Lab – one of just five labs
in the state of Minnesota. Additionally, all diamonds
in Graham’s inventory are independently
certified by the Gemological Institute of America
(GIA) or the American Gem Society (AGS).
Chris Graham has become an integral
part of the Wayzata Business Community, serving
on the Wayzata Chamber Commerce Board of Directors
and is Chair of the Promotions Committee as well
as a member of the Twin West Chamber of Commerce.
Chris was named 2006 Twin West Chamber Emerging
Entrepreneur of the Year and in May was named
one of the 2007 Business Journal’s 40 Under
40.
Graham Jewelers is excited about
the many new businesses that have come to Wayzata
and the massive redevelopment of the Wayzata Bay
Center currently underway under the leadership
of Gordy Engle and John Berg. The Wayzata community
is thriving and Chris is thrilled to be a part.
